ABOUT
US The Sign Shop, Inc. has been owned
and operated by Ray Parden since 1978. Having a background in art, we
are very sensitive to design & quality control, and our long list of
repeat customers is a testament to our success. We are located near
Albany Louisiana, which close to both the New Orleans and Baton Rouge
metropolitan areas. We
offer many services including in house thermal digital printing of decals,
vinyl letters, metal signs, banners and sandblasted wood signs. Our
list of products is long and growing. If you don't see it in our catalog,
just ask, we might have it.
History
The Sign Shop was founded in the mid 70's in Hammond, Louisiana, by
an "Old Timer" who I only remember as "Pappy." I
was a recent Art Ed grad, and was working in another sign shop that was
located in the same block. In 1978 Pappy decided to give up sign
painting to go search for gold in Alabama. I paid Pappy $500 for
some of his brushes, paint and the location. So it was in the summer of
1978 that I became the proprietor of The Sign Shop. |

Back in the good old days, before I started using computers, my business
specialized painted signs, sandblasted redwood signs, neon, and glass
etching. Our design and craftsmanship abilities gained us a lot of
satisfied customers.
Some of our customers from that era include:
 |
This sign was 18' long and
11' wide. I had to hire an augur truck and a boom truck to
install it since it was so large. Of course the day I
scheduled them for the installation was the day my second daughter
was born, but fortunately my wife cooperated and got it done early. |
Ralph & Kacoo's Restaurant in Baton
Rouge and New Orleans - Wooden Signs.
Trey Yuen Restaurant in Hammond, Covington and New Orleans - Wooden Signs,
Etched Glass, and custom signwork for their Jax's Brewery location.
Don's Seafood Restaurant in Hammond- Etched Glass.
Catfish Town in Baton Rouge (a shopping mall in antique buildings) Wooden
Signs, Letters, Neon, Etched Glass, Painted Signs.
And many, many more...
In fact many of the signs that we made during
this era are still doing their job.

It was the 90's before I entered the computer era, but now I do most of
the design work and much of the sign and sticker work using a
computer, plotter and a vinyl printer. This makes work a lot more
efficient than it was before computers which translates into lower prices
and better quality. Present
My shop is located in southeast Louisiana, on the edge of the
Mississippi flood plain near Albany Louisiana. Most of our work now
comes from our website, although our local customers are still very
important to us. In fact, due to the web we are all local
now.
We stay busy making wooden signs, printing and cutting custom decals and
letters, making banners and providing expert service to our
customers.
We also provide online sales and consulting for all types
of Sign Letters, Cast/Metal Plaques, and many other products.
